My brother retired in 2007 after serving for 22.5 years. The selfish satisfaction I enjoyed traveling around this fine country following the boys back in the day was often tinged with anxiety at knowing he was somewhere in harm’s way. He couldn’t tell me where he was or what he was doing most of the time – I am so thankful that he is done now. Somewhat the worse for wear though, jumping out of airplanes is risky business and he is dealing with many physical issues today.
